ART IS A JOURNEY, NOT A DESTINATION
This week, I work in my sketchbook while I discuss my thoughts on the cliche “Art is a journey, not a destination.” What does this really mean?
For me, waiting to get to the results spoils the fun of getting there. As soon as I start worrying about if my work will sell or if I’m doing it “right,” I lose track of the joy. But when I’m not worried about the end results, I can keep working and enjoy the process (even when things aren’t going right) and the results are ALWAYS better than when I try.
Think about your own work—Is there a way to do something in your art that is enjoyable and playful, and without passing judgment and worrying about the result?
