"Heart's Desire" is very special to me.It's the most honest, most intuitive, most emotional painting I've made so far. Showing it feels a little bit too revealing .... almost like stripping off in public.But I know it's powerful for that very reason. It's a painting that came from deep inside me with no pre-planning and no real intention other than to paint my feelings about the wild Pennines landscape. Initially it began as a demo on how to truly let loose when you're painting. My plan was to make an ugly painting, in order to show others that it's OK to just let loose and have fun. It felt extremely powerful to me even in its raw state. Instead of going into analytical mode and trying to decide next moves with my mind, I stayed with my intuition and stopped when that deep part of myself said the painting was done.Looking at it I felt excited but also exposed and a little scared.
