View From Your Studio - Anne Armes

I first met Anne Armes when we both took Nicholas Wilton's Creative Visionary Program earlier this year. At the time, Anne was new to painting but her work has come on in leaps and bounds. She is currently crushing it as a member of my Find Your Joy course.Anne writes:"My home is in the beautiful county of Shropshire, in a market town called Newport.I work in an upstairs spare bedroom, at least it was, now it’s my studio, so no overnight visitors allowed except my daughter (who only comes occasionally as she lives in Australia).I’ve worked in textiles for the last 25 years - mainly sketchbooks, dyeing, hand and machine stitch, exhibiting a various galleries around the country. I hadn’t tried painting until this year, when I did CVP and it’s changed my life so much. I’m much happier and more confident. I am absolutely hooked on painting now, although I am only beginning to find my voice. I’m really enjoying exploring the process, which is much more immediate than textiles and you don’t have to unpick mistakes, just cover them up! I’ve kept some of my dyed cloth and threads though as I hope to incorporate these into my panels at some point."Here's Anne and some more shots of her studio. We'd love to see where you work, so if you'd like to be featured, just send me an email with some photos (high quality please!) and a few words about your work space and what it means to you.
