View from your Studio - Laura Salzberg
This week's '"view from your studio" comes from Laura Salzberg, who lives and works in Manhattan.I live in New York City where real estate is at a premium. I share a one bedroom with my husband and my studio is my son’s old “ bedroom “ (with no closet it can’t be legally called a bedroom .) It’s 7ft x 13 ft.I have flat files with paper sorted by color, an 8ft table and some carts, bookcases etc to hold materials. There is still a pile of my son’s stuff in the corner which I hope will be gone in a few years when he is done with school and settled in his own place.I’ve been doing a lot of 12” x 12” for space reasons. I take classes in an art studio near me and I do larger pieces there. I can do larger pieces in my studio, but it’s awkward.Really big? Impossible.I salivate over other people’s large spacious studios but I love my little space. You can find Laura's work and blog at www.laurasalzberg.com. Her blog is well worth a read and her paintings are wonderful. It just goes to show that size doesn't matter when it comes to making art! If you're willing to share. we'd love to see your space. Just email me with some photos and a description.
