Why you shouldn't watermark your art

This week I’ve been thinking about watermarking paintings on social media. I know people worry about their paintings being stolen. Yes, that can happen, but the real danger is your art not being seen.

When you share your artwork, you are communicating with others. A watermark puts a big barrier between the viewer and the artwork. It breaks the connection. Making art is generous and open. Don’t be afraid to be generous, and it will come back to you.
