These small paintings took many hours to build up and represent a transitionary point in my work, from a pure focus on abstract to something else - a fascination with the way our history intersects with our environment. Each painting is made of layers of paint and vintage paper collage which has then been sanded and repainted, sanded and repainted, eventually creating a piece that speaks of place but also of much more.
